Exhibition: PhotoNow 2017

Allegheny River In October

I’m excited to be a part of the regional Photo Now 2017 Exhibition, put on by the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve. It will be held at Tri-C East in the Gallery East exhibition space, located at 4250 Richmond Road, Highland Heights, Ohio 44122. The opening ceremony will be Thursday, September 7th from 6:00 – 8:30.

75 photographs were accepted by juror Aline Smithson from nearly 300 entries. The show runs October 12th, and Gallery East hours are MondayThursday 10:30 – 3:30.  Gallery East is in the Eastern Campus Education Center near the Harvard Road entrance (room 135 EEC).

My piece is an image taken from one bank of the Allegheny River, looking across the river at the opposite bank. It was shot with a Fuji body with a UV filter, taking 55 seconds to make the exposure. It was then converted to black and white. The foreground goes to a deep black river while across the river the bank lifts up into the clouds which are streaking across the sky giving a sense of motion.
